The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) seeks
an experienced professional for the position of Associate Director of
Facilities & Services-Director of Stores and Receiving. As the flagship
public institution in the State of Illinois, the University serves over
42,000 students, both undergraduate and graduate, and offers 150
undergraduate majors and 4,000 courses across a wide variety of fields.
The University's division of Facilities & Services is the largest
administrative unit on campus and is committed to customer service and
excellence in meeting the needs of the faculty, staff, and students of the
UIUC campus.
The Director of Stores and Receiving reports to the Director of Campus
Services and is responsible for directing the stores and receiving
operation, which includes the receipt, storage, sale, and delivery of
maintenance and repair materials, computer equipment, furniture,
industrial, laboratory, office supplies, and general merchandise related
to University business. The Stores and Receiving director also manages the
receipt and delivery of campus freight, advises the campus on matters
related to supply chain management and procurement, and collaborates with
purchasing and procurement around policies, procedures, and relationships
with vendors. The director oversees a staff of 38 and an operation of $30
million. The director is also responsible for managing the unit's
participation in I-Buy, an online strategic purchasing group for Illinois'
three university campuses, and the Illinois Public Higher Education
Cooperative (IPHEC), an organization that consolidates common requirements
for various state universities into one bid process.
A bachelor's degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred with
demonstrated leadership experience in receiving, distribution, and
inventory management in a complex environment. Strong management skills,
the ability to interact with a diverse user community, familiarity with
stores, materials management, procurement, and supply chain management in
a large, multi-faceted operation is very important in the selection of the
new director. The Director of Stores and Receiving is a full-time academic
professional position. Salary is commensurate with demonstrated ability
and experience.
