Paramount Export Company, an employee owned (ESOP) company,
based in Oakland and Los Angeles, is a world-wide trader of fresh produce
and food products representing suppliers and customers for markets around
the globe. We are currently seeking an individual to fill a newly created
warehouse manager position for our Los Angeles consolidation facility.
The warehouse receives and re-consolidates fresh produce and food products
for export by air and sea. The position will have overall responsibility
for all warehouse operations and up to 40 permanent and temporary
warehouse laborers and foremen. This exempt position will report to the
facility head.
The demands of our growing, multi-faceted business require us to obtain
more space. We are also subject to regular US Department of Agriculture
(USDA) inspections and plan to make the facility a certified
Transportation and Safety Administration (TSA) site. The incumbent will
be expected to spearhead these processes.

The primary responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited
to:
1. Plant and equipment
- Overall responsibility for all matters related to building security,
equipment maintenance and warehouse supplies
- Analyze warehouse operation to maximize efficiency; suggest, write and
implement new procedures as needed
2. Personnel, Safety and Workers Compensation
- Overall responsibility for all matters related to warehouse personnel
- Suggest, write and implement new safety policies as needed
3. TSA and USDA
- Primary contact for all TSA and USDA inspectors and auditors
- Keep current and ensure compliance with all applicable TSA and USDA
rules, regulations and procedures; record keeping requirements; training
and equipment maintenance
Required knowledge, skills and abilities, experience, and characteristics
1. Knowledge
- 100% written and spoken English/Spanish bi-lingual fluency
- Computer literate, especially in MS Office applications
- Proven knowledge of warehouse operations; food and/or produce experience
is helpful
2. Skills and Abilities
- Interact effectively with US government inspectors and auditors to
prevent violations and citations
- Understand and meet the requirements of US government rules and
regulations
- Manage time and juggle multiple competing priorities; problem solving
skills
- Build a strong, cohesive team and provide leadership with unquestionable
integrity
- Delegate responsibility and learn from co-workers and subordinates
- Work effectively with all levels of personnel from a wide variety of
backgrounds to ensure the job gets done correctly

3. Experience
- Minimum 7 years experience in warehouse operations
- Minimum 5 years supervisory experience of at least 25 warehouse laborers
and foremen
