POSITION SUMMARY:
Conduct receiving operations and food safety verification for fresh seafood arriving to the Boston area. Execute quality systems for compliance with FDA and HACCP requirements. The position will start on a per project basis, then develop into a permanent position within six months or less.

Job Description:
Our Warehouse Team Leader performs the same daily functions as other warehouse personnel, with the added responsibility of supervising the operations. This job involves one-on-one and team interaction in the day-to-day operation of a 55,000 sf warehouse.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Validate and assure compliance with established food safety and quality objectives and internal processes.
  • Understand and follow all systems outlined in the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and HACCP requirements.
  • Coordinate international shipment arrivals with freight forwarding company.
  • Supervise unloading of product at distribution center.
  • Remove product from controlled atmosphere and release to customer.
  • Conduct QC measurements as necessary.
  • Collect equipment from the incoming containerized shipments of product; consolidate, accumulate and arrange return export shipments of these items, including the preparation of shipping documents.
  • Responsible for preparation of all product receiving documentation, reporting and archiving.
  • Capable of expert dialogue on the food safety attributes of SAF-D�.
  • Interface with customers and distributors on an ongoing basis.
  • Follow product through retail chain and prepare reports for management as required.
  • Coordinate shipment of product samples to customers or laboratories as required.
  • Ability to travel to other locations on the East Coast as required, estimated at less than 20%.
  • Other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor�s degree or equivalent in food technology/food science.
  • Familiarity with freight logistics and international shipping.
  • Cold chain experience a plus. Cold chain experience a plus.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as SOPs, procedure manuals, regulatory documents.
  • Ability to speak and write effectively with team members and customers is a must.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
  • Competent user of MS Office products, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Ability to use and prepare Excel spreadsheets with temperature and gas concentration charts.
  • Ability to learn additional software as required.
EQUIPMENT:
  • Ability to calibrate and use thermometers and other temperature measuring devices.
  • Ability to calibrate and use gas concentration measurement equipment.
  • Ability to work with compressed gases. PHYSICAL
DEMANDS:
  • Must be able to stretch and reach to open ocean freight containers, cut customs seal with bolt cutter.
  • Must be able to lift and move full boxes of product (45 lbs).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel or crouch.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • This is a remote location for GFF. The employee must be self-directed and able to work independently at a highly effective level.
  • Frequent exposure to cold room environment at approximately 32 degrees Fahrenheit.
COMPENSATION:
This is a full-time, salaried position, to include health care and paid vacation. GFF is a high growth company. This position will have substantial growth potential for the right candidate.
